Why LED Tube

LED Tube is designed to replace traditional fluorescent tubes.

Traditional T8 fluorescent tube has shorter lifetime, has faster light decay and more importantly consume more energy over time when compared to LED Tube. It has hazardous mercury inside resulting in special handling during disposal.

LED Tube has much superior performance, lower glare, no flickering, longer lasting and consume less than 50 percent energy as compared to traditional fluorescent tube.

Normal LED Tube has about 100 to 150 lumens per watt efficacy. MY LUMENS patented LED Tube can reach up to 190 lumens per watt delivering more than 70% energy savings as compared to traditional fluorescent tube.

For example, a normal fluorescent tube consumes 40W energy with ballast. MY LUMENS LED tube consumes only 10.5W energy. If energy cost is $0.11 per kWh, the estimated savings for a 24-hour operation is about $2.40 per month or $28 per year per tube. Payback is less than one year and the tube can last 50,000 hours as compared to about 8000 hours for traditional fluorescent tube.

Our Story

We spend 80% of our time indoor. Lighting is important for conducive working environment and for the individual’s health and well-being in the workplace.

Good lighting with high light quality reduces the risk of health problems, increases safety, and enhances productivity.  

LED is considered as light source of the future but too glaring for the eyes

Over the last few years MY LUMENS have designed, developed and manufactured LED lighting for the Japanese market.

LED component efficacy has increased dramatically. Theoretically, it could approach > 350 lm/W.

For a 2000 lm T8 tube with a physical length of 1.2m or 4 ft, this translates to designing a 4 ft tube with very few LED quantities exhibiting super high intensity hot spots along the tube; thus resulting in high intensity glares to the eyes.

In our production shop floor, we have to wear protective glasses to handle this intensity.

To mitigate this high glare risk, MY LUMENS uses Indirect Lighting concept to create soothing comfortable lighting  healthy for the eyes.

The Moon is comfortable to look at. Moonlight is reflected from the SUN. MY LUMENS’ logo symbolizes our aspiration for Indirect Lighting.

MCPET Inside

MY LUMENS use specialty reflective material MCPET from Furukawa to diffuse and mix the light to create high uniformity low glare tubes and luminaires.

The Lighting Ambiance Result

The following picture is a transformation of lighting application in the same space. Notice the high shadows along the ceiling wall using the traditional fluorescent tubes. The picture on the right is using our next generation LUNAR Series indirect lighting troffers, brighter and saves more energy.

Our long term goal is affordable superior light quality and super efficient LED lighting for the masses.

The Big picture goal is Energy Efficiency and human-centric lighting (HCL).  HCL is the designing and tuning of LED light’s biological, visual, and emotional effects to foster human health, well-being, and performance.

Energy efficiency is the cleanest, the cheapest and the fastest form of new energy. Lighting is 20% of Energy usage.
